Community
& Events

Working together to fund research around ARVC, raise awareness that can save families from heartache, and honor Shane's life and legacy.

Since the events of 2020, we have not been able to host as many events as we would like, but we are anxious to now begin hosting events again.

Interested in partnering with us organize an event, speaking engagement, or fundraiser?

"The Tanzosh family would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to everyone who have supported us and continue to support us since the passing of our beloved son, brother, and friend Shane Tanzosh. Words can’t fully express how much we have appreciated all the love we have received."

Why Community Support Matters

We wish to do anything that would help other families, so they might not have to endure the loss we as a family have experienced. We also know Shane would have wanted this. Please share our site, stay in the loop about events and new ways to support, and help us spread the word and awareness around this disease.

Activities & Events

Whether a golf tournament, an organized ride, a banquet, an auction, or any creative gathering designed to raise awareness around ARVC, these kinds of events allow us to connect with more families and parents to share our story, to help educate about potential detection methods, and to raise donations for continued research.

Presentations

By being able to speak about ARVC and share Shane's legacy with young athletes, parents, and families, we are able to cast a wide net to help ARVC be recognized early and rally folks around our cause.

Fundraisers

Ongoing fundraisers are just another way to potentially partner with our foundation's efforts to spread awareness and raise money for research.

We are grateful for the support of our communities.

May '19 - Golf Tournament

Anthony and Felicia Tanzosh along with members of their family organized the first annual Shane Andrew Tanzosh ARVC Heart Foundation Charity Golf Outing at Hickory Hill Golf Course.

Family member Mike Annicaro also participated in making the event a success but was not available for the photograph.

“On Sept. 12, 2016, Shane Tanzosh, the son of Warwick residents Anthony and Felicia Tanzosh, died at age 26 of a genetic mutation called Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC), a form of heart disease that usually appears in adulthood. ARVC is a disorder of the myocardium, which is the muscular wall of the heart. This condition causes part of the myocardium to break down over time, increasing the risk of an abnormal heartbeat (arrhythmia) and sudden death. Young men and women, particularly athletes, can develop this condition that typically goes undetected by standard heart tests. Members of the Tanzosh family soon opened a foundation in Shane Tanzosh’s honor to help gather and conduct research being conducted at Northwestern University to create an early detection screening test.

“On Friday, April 26, the first annual Shane Edward Tanzosh ARVC Heart Foundation Charity Golf Outing was held at Hickory Hill Golf Course. Thanks to enthusiastic community support, 105 golfers registered and the first of what is planned to be an annual event, raised more than $9,000 for the important research. Although there was a light rain that morning, which later turned into showers, most of those registered played golf and then returned a little earlier to enjoy a buffet lunch and awards. ‘We had a great turnout despite the rain,’ said Anthony Tanzosh. ‘And we want to make sure to thank everyone who made donations, sponsored holes, or played golf. They’re helping us to reach out goal and promote awareness and testing for ARVC.'”
